'Something for a Lonely Man' is a made-for-television western movie. It was first broadcast in 1968; NBC aired it a second time on December 9, 1969.[1]
John Killibrew, a blacksmith, had convinced a number of settlers to follow him to California and found a town. When the railroad comes through the area in 1870 but bypasses the settlement, Killibrew attempts to make amends to the group who had bet their future on his plan. Killibrew's task involves recovering an immense steam engine. Sustaining him in the task is a girl's love — and a book of Ralph Waldo Emerson's essays.[1]
